Nothing ever dies!
Joe did two very different versions of this song.
The first draft is at the top and the second version is below.
They’re both too fantastic to not share.
I know what I love about each one,
and each one has special qualities.
Which one do you prefer?
Full on swamp attack or up from the Gospel?
Leave a comment to tell me why, if you’re so inspired.
LIFE IN THOSE BONES
There’s sand in the desert that combusts into glass.
The winds howl a warning - you shall not pass!
There’s time shifting forward to shine wasted bones.
You travel in windstorms then you travel alone.
There’s life in those bones! There’s life in those bones!
The sun blazes blisters on heart-broken souls,
From the skeletal specter, eyes ablaze, he arose,
as the sky threatens vengeance with deep ancient tones.
There’s life in those bones! There’s life in those bones!
There’s life in those bones!
They dance in the night!
With scorpions singing
to dragons’ delight.
The dark night it whispers under frozen hot stars,
singing sweet dragon love songs to Jupiter and Mars.
The blazing black time lapse slid into its home.
There’s life in those bones! There’s life in those bones!
The eyes of the sky lords see us cry from above
as we stumble on treasures but stay blinded to love.
Sand snakes they slither, retracting from light.
The hidden, the night wings, emerge at twilight.
There’s life in those bones!
They sing to the rain!
They feed all the dwellers
give them life once again.
The clouds rumble crackling!
Lightning shatters the sky!
All scramble for secret
spaces, look up and cry.
There’s life in those bones!
There’s life in those bones!
Take yourself higher
and you’ll never be alone.
There’s life in those bones!
There’s life in those bones!
Climb into the chariot!
Don’t need no telephone!
There’s life in those bones!
There’s life in those bones!
HERE is version number two, with a touch of the choir.
